Ant Control
In the St. Louis area, the most common ants include carpenter ants, odorous house ants, and pavement ants. They are most prevalent in spring when their hibernation ends and warmer weather approaches. These highly social insects work together to find food and support the establishment of new colonies.
If you notice swarming winged ants at your windows, you may have an issue with carpenter ants. Carpenter ants drill into wood to create tunnels for nesting.
Odorous house ants – commonly known as sugar ants – are often spotted on your kitchen window sills and countertops. These ants are drawn to the sweet spills in your home like sticky soda or juice or other sugary leftovers. You may even spot a trail of ants marching their way to your pet’s food bowl.
The high humidity conditions in bathrooms and kitchens can also attract pavement ants who are looking for new sources of warmth and moisture.

Our house was was infested by these gigantic black water bugs. They were able to send someone out almost immediately. The person they sent wasn’t creepy. It took him less than 20 minutes, and we never saw those bugs again. All at a fraction of the cost of the other companies that I had called.
We have used Pioneer Pest for mosquito control for two summers. It is amazing!! We don’t have any mosquitoes or gnats, and very few flies, it is just an awesome service. We also had them spray the inside/outside of our house for general pest control and it seems to last longer than other pest companies. We only have them out once a year and we are pest free. Great customer service. It is a small company that is doing an amazing job.
We had an ant problem when it started to warm up. We called and they sent someone out pretty quick. The guy that came out was very nice and very informative. He quickly found out where the ants had their homes outside the house and showed us all the spots. We have an infant and I was nervous about anything being sprayed in the house. They never even came in the house! Everything was taken care of outside. After a couple days we had little to ants and weeks later, not a single ant! I would definitely recommend them and would use again if we had any problems!
Like everyone, we get ants in our yard. Occasionally, they find a way into the house and try to set up shop in force. One phone call, a prompt visit and a very reasonable fee later, the ants are gone for at least the next year. This particular visit was the third in the four years we’ve been living here. Don’t know what more you’d want in a pest control company.

Steve was amazing! We had a mouse problem that we thought would never go away. He solved the problem safely with absolutely no harm to our pets. They follow-up, are quick, reasonable and very friendly. We highly recommend Pioneer and would definitely call them again.

We are so thrilled with Pioneer Pest. Every year we have them spray our yard for our Annual Backyard Movie night. I totally forgot to call them in advance this year. Knowing that they are super busy this time of the year, I called them and said if you can fit us in I would appreciate it but I understand that this is last minute so if you can’t it is okay. They said they would see what they could do. Imagine my joy when I came home today to find a sign on my front doorknob stating that the job had been completed! Thank you, Steve!
From start to finish, our initial experience with Pioneer was excellent. We submitted a request for quote via the website and had a call from them within minutes. I can’t say enough good things about Pioneer!! We have used them for two homes now, in Kirkwood and just recently in Clayton, and wouldn’t want to use anyone else. They have helped with moles, voles, insects, mice, and chipmunks (I know I have come to know them well).

We officially LOVE Pioneer Pest. We called with a problem of ground bees in our backyard in the area where our kids play. Tom from Pioneer Pest came out within the hour. Then, come to find out, he told us they were yellow jackets and fixed the problem instantly. After he left, we found another nest of them in our light post in the front yard. Tom came right back to our house and treated the area.
